形態特徵

• Small evergreen trees; twigs grayish brown to dark brown, terete, young twigs green, glabrous, ridged below petioles; terminal buds subulate, and slightly flattened, usually curved at apex, 2–3 mm long, glabrous or sparsely powdery pubescent, margin of scales ciliate.
• Leaves thinly coriaceous, elliptic, 3–6 cm long, 2–3 cm wide, apex shortly caudate, with apiculate tip, base attenuate, margins slightly recurved, dentate or crenate-serrate, with teeth 2–5 mm apart, glabrous, midrib impressed on upper surface, prominent on lower surface, nerves 4–7 pairs, meeting in an intramarginal vein, prominent on lower surface, petiole glabrous, 3–7 mm long.
• Inflorescences an axillary racemes, (2–)3–7-flowered, to 1.5 cm long, axis ridged, asparsely pilose, and usually distinctly pilose at bracteal nodes, pedicels 2–5 mm long, bracts caducous, suborbicular, 2 mm long, 2 mm wide, sparsely appressed pubescent, bracteoles 2, caducous, keeled, triangular, apex acute, margins sparsely pubescent with ciliate margins, ca. 0.7 mm long. Calyx tube glabrous, 1.5 mm long, limb 1–2 mm long, lobes valvate, ovate to semiorbicular, glabrous or slightly pubescent, margin ciliolate; corolla 5–7 mm long, deeply 5-lobed, tube ca. 1 mm long, lobes elliptic, margin ciliolate; stamens ca. 50, indistinctly pentadelphous, disc annular, glabrous; style glabrous, 4–5 mm long; ovary 3-locular.
• Fruits narrowly ampulliform, crowned by the persistent calyx lobes, 11–13 mm long excluding calyx lobes, 7–10 mm in diam.; stone smooth, seed 1, withembryo longitudinally curved embryo.

分布

• 台灣 : 100–400 m, in the southern most part of the island.
